Ciutadella to Son Saura (approx. 20 km)
This stage of the Camí de Cavalls from Ciutadella to Son Saura leads along Menorca’s beautiful and varied southwest coast, combining cultural charm with stunning turquoise bays. Leaving the elegant town of Ciutadella, with its historic old town and lively harbour, the trail soon reaches the coast and begins to follow the sea, passing Cala Santandria and, Cala Blanca. The scenery quickly becomes more natural, with rocky platforms, small coves, and open views across the Mediterranean. At the very south-west of the island you will find the lighthouse ‘Far de Cap d’Artrutx’, where you can have a nice rest.
Another highlight is Cala’n Bosc, with its marina and holiday atmosphere, before the path continues along the coastline towards a series of increasingly beautiful beaches such as Son Xoriguer. The water along this stretch is known for its intense turquoise colour and clear, shallow bays. The coastline becomes quieter and more scenic with each kilometer.
Approaching Son Saura, the landscape opens into wide natural bays with white sand and crystal-clear water. Surrounded by dunes and open countryside, Son Saura feels peaceful and unspoiled despite its size. It is a perfect place to rest, swim, and enjoy the relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere after a long but rewarding coastal walk.
